The people with the biggest influence on the further development of a breed are, beside the judges, the "breeders".
Because a Breedclub is also involved in this matter, it is crucial that there is a good relation between the club and the breeders.
The Breedclub can also support better contacts between the breeders.
A point of priority and mutual attention is the Health policy. Health in this matter has to be seen as both physical and mental well-being.
Breeders who are joining the Irish Wolfhound Club Belgium,
commit themselves to :
1. Respect the rules and regulations of the Kennel Club of their country.
2. Give information to future Irish Wolfhound owners.
3. Sell their puppies with a contract.
4. Re-home their breedproducts, if necessary.
5. Participate to all health-examinations who are for the breed needed or desired.
6. Pass information about illnesses, causes of death and age of deceased animals.
Via the Breedclub (IWCB) one can ask for Puppymediation. To be in title to have this service by our club, the breeder has to forfill the following points :
1. To be at least one year full member of our Breedclub.
2. To follow the Rules & Regulations of the Royal Society Saint-Hubert (or the rules for breeding by your own Kennel Club).
3. The parental pair needs to have an official pedigree (Fédération Cynologique Internationale (F.C.I.), or from one of the associated partners (KC, AKC, CKC, etc.)...
4. Whenever there is more than one litter of Irish Wolfhoundpuppy's present, and only one litter is forfilling the wanted or needed regulations, there will no be mediation offered.
5. For breeders who are, for the first time, wishing to use the mediation by the Breedclub, there will be allways a possible check on the litter by somebody of the committee or the responsable for Puppymediation & Rescue !
6. The mother may, at the time of mating, for the first time, not be younger then 24 months, and we advise, for a first litter not older then 5 years of age !
7. Pedigree and vaccinationpapers should be delivered at name of the future owner without any extra expenses.
8. The breeders will take care of all the medical examinations wanted and needed by the IWCB.
9. Puppy's may not leave the litter before the age of 8 weeks, no comment !
10. The litter must be announced to the IWCB by the official yellow form of the Royal Society Saint-Hubert. (Only for Belgian members).
11. The litter will be transmitted for 4 months to future IW owners, not longer unless the breeder claims the puppy's are not sold.
12. The breeder pays for the new owner, to whom he sold a puppy, the membership fee for the IWCB for one year.
13. Announcing a litter in our Newsletter, can only be done when all the previous is forfilled.
14. When the puppy's are all sold, the breeder hands over a list of all new owners to the IWCB (together with a copy of the official mating & birth form of the KMSH and a copy of the pedigree of both the parents).
